FINTIRI'S FIVE YEARS OF ACTION IN ADAMAWA-George Kushi

Five years ago like a bolt of lightning Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri took the reins of government and started acting the very moment his feet hit the ground.

His government ,unlike other's never tottered to the consternation of his opponents that thought that as usual the government will fail without their support,but that was not to be as the "indomitable overcomer " weathered the initial storm of opposition and forged ahead to totally change the Adamawa narrative of perpetual infancy to fast become a beacon and shining example of what modern governance should be like.

Having held sway for three months as acting governor, Fintiri's traducers were of the opinion that the grandiose steps he took towards transforming the state was a flash in a pan,they therefore doubled their efforts to kill his dreams and aspirations for Adamawa state in it's cradle.

But that was not to be as Fortune in concert with the will of the people came into play when five years ago against stupendous odds Fintiri emerged victorious.

Today,as Adamawa marks the fifth year of action under Ahmadu Fintiri no one is in doubt that the face of governance in the northern part of Nigeria can never be the same as Adamawa ,the backyard and rural state of the country sparked to life under Fintiri and is now the cynosure and center of attention across the nation. Never has a state developed at the pace that Adamawa is doing right now.

The government's promise that " No one will be left behind and nothing is left untouched " has come to reality as all facets of human life continues to undergo rapid transformation at an astonishing rate.

Fintiri never paused for a breathe from the day he took office. From the onset he took it upon himself to address sundry infrastructural problems of roads,electrification,healt facilities at all levels, agriculture,housing,security and the malaise caused by insecurity,pensions and gratuity, humanitarian needs, the issue of Internally Displaced Persons as a result of the Book Haram insurgency etc.

In the space of five years all parts of the state have witnessed a rise in the quality of infrastructure development provided by government to ease transportation to and from medical facilities,markets other amenities, payment of WAEC and NECO fees, school. Feeding etc.

The achievements of this government in the past five years are legion and cannot be chronicled in one article. If truth be told , it will btake volumes of printed material and months of painstaking labor to capture what has happened in Adamawa in the past five years.

With a total departure from the past , and construction of 1000 fi tiri housing estate, the super high way, flyovers, an ultramodern market underway, Yola is poised to become the new hub of commercial activities for the Northeast of Nigeria and countries like Cameron right up to Central African republic.

This dream will come to be in the near future if the Federal government will do half of what it should do on its own part to compliment the revolutionarized development taking place I'm the state.

As Adamawa celebrates five years of action and the man behind the quantum leap that has left all agape as to what a determined and purposeful leadership can do in a few years,one cannot help but wonder at how things can never be the same.

Earlier,at the initial stage of Fintiri's emergence as governor of Adamawastate the expectation was that a pass mark would be sufficient. But,alas !Fintiri has proved us wrong,he has done the incredible,he has excelled beyond expectations and will continue to baffle us with far- reaching changes as he has done in the past few years.

This is what purposeful leadership is all about and it is what is obtainable in Adamawa days within the the Fintiri five years of action.
